چکیده

We report the serendipitous detection with the Rossi X-ray Timing Explorer of a long and peculiar X-ray burst whose localization is consistent with one known X-ray burster (GRS 1747-312) and which occurred when that source was otherwise quiescent. The peculiar feature concerns a strong radius expansion of the neutron star photosphere, which occurred not within a few seconds from the start of the burst, as is standard in radiusexpansion bursts, but 20 s later. This suggests that two different layers of the neutron star may have undergone thermonuclear runaways: a hydrogen-rich and a hydrogen-poor layer. The reason for the delay may be related to the source being otherwise quiescent.

Bursts , eclipses , dips and a refined position for the luminous low - mass X - ray binary in the globular cluster Terzan 6

GRS 1747-312 is a bright transient X-ray source in the globular cluster Terzan 6 with quasi-periodic outbursts approximately every 4.5 months. We carried out 2–60 keV target-of-opportunity observations during eight outbursts with the Proportional Counter Array on the RXTE satellite, for a total exposure time of 301 ks, and detect the first unambiguous thermonuclear bursts from this source. This...

X-ray Bursts from the Galactic X-ray Transient Source Grs 1915+105

We have analyzed publicly available RXTE/PCAs archival data of GRS 1915+105 during its burst/flaring state. The burst cycle ranges from 30 to 1300 s. These bursts are different from the type I and type II classical bursts seen in Low Mass X-ray Binaries (LMXBs) in terms of their temporal and spectral properties. We have classified these bursts on the basis of properties observed during the quie...

Quasi-regular X-ray Bursts from Grs 19151105 Observed with the Ixae: Possible Evidence for Matter Disappearing into the Event Horizon of the Black Hole

Three different types of very intense, quasi-regular X-ray bursts have been observed from the Galactic superluminal X-ray transient source GRS 19151105 with the pointed proportional counters of the Indian X-Ray Astronomy Experiment on board the Indian satellite IRS-P3. The observations were carried out from 1997 June 12 to 29 in the energy range of 2–18 keV and revealed the presence of persiste...

Nustar Observation of a Type I X-ray Burst from Grs 1741.9-2853

We report on two NuSTAR observations of GRS 1741.9-2853, a faint neutron star low mass X-ray binary burster located 10 away from the Galactic center. NuSTAR detected the source serendipitously as it was emerging from quiescence: its luminosity was 6× 10 erg s on 2013 July 31, and 5× 10 erg s in a second observation on 2013 August 3. A bright, 800-s long, H-triggered mixed H/He thermonuclear Typ...
